On the Other Ocean (1977) is a seminal work by composer David Behrman, a pioneer of experimental and electronic music. The piece creates a delicate dialogue between acoustic instruments and live electronics, unfolding as an open system where sound emerges through interaction and listening.
In 2025, I had the opportunity to perform the electronics part of On the Other Ocean at ISSUE Project Room, New York, with John King, Aliya Ultan, Ben Neill, and David Behrman. It was a collaborative process where I contributed to shaping and supporting the electronic textures within Behrman’s delicate balance between live instruments and responsive sound.
